Christmas Markets Around Sasbachwalden

In December, three very different Christmas markets are within reach: one in the village, one in the spa town and one across the Rhine. You can visit them on three separate evenings and still be home each night to sleep.

On the first two Advent weekends, the Christmas market opens in the spa gardens, just a few steps from us. It is gluten-free, which has made it known far beyond the region. Anyone who usually has to go without can eat everything here.

Half an hour away, Baden-Baden decorates its Christkindelsmarkt in front of the Kurhaus, beneath old trees and strings of lights. An afternoon there pairs well with a visit to the thermal baths.

Across the Rhine, the Christkindelsmärik fills the lanes around the cathedral. Dating back to 1570, it is one of the oldest in Europe. It is at its loveliest in the early evening, when the façades are illuminated and the air smells of vin chaud.
